PLACEHOLD.IT

When building a site have you ever wished you had a simple way to add placeholder images? If you said yes, it looks like you’re not alone.

Enter PLACEHOLD.IT, a “quick and simple image placeholder service” for web designers and developers. And it’s pretty simple to use — Format the URL with the image size of your choice and the image is created, dynamically. For example, the following URL generates the image below:

Many different colors, image formats, and even text can be specified though the query sting. Like this example below — 550px wide by 100px high, Green Background, White Text Color, PNG format, and the Text: Dig This!
